I have had a wonderful experience traveling to another part of the country. Spelling and inappropriate terminology never defeated my ability to understand and communicate effectively with a completely different culture. Ironically it allowed me to understand and appreciate the differences of our identities. Whether those identities were proper english speaking caucasions, or deeply rooted Asians who barely spoke a word of proper english. It was the facial communications, being a smile or a bow or a simple handshake that brought me the most enjoyable communications as it seemed for others that were smiling back. Simplicity at it's best. As you simply said, I don't have to have perfect writing and verbal skills to communicate effectively. Look at the case of "if it doesn't fit than you must auquit" (sp?). The most verbally appropriate people may just do the opposite of what they are trying to attain. Turning off the basic communicator and leading those who cannot communicate with all of the other senses that we have as humans with regard to communication skills is pertinant, in my belief and values system, to all. I hope to be able to break down the barriers of sharing, caring, and having communication with another human being by stopping the critique of their abilities of spelling and grammar and using the KISS method. "Keep it simple stupid". It made a world of difference when I helped a woman pick up luggage that was too heavy for her, and another who simply wrote on a cardboard sign " I don't want to lie, I just need a drink". Those things were much more profound then a than vs then, and a mispelled word; bear vs beer. The message either way was very clear. As far as spitting, well, that's a whole differen't story. That's a very basic case of common sense and courtesy according to my values and beliefs. I don't presume to impose either of my previous comments on either, however, I am glad to be able to have a way to communicate to others spelling errors, beliefs, values, ignorances, and life experiences in all. Thank you.
